how do I recover a lost shapes window in Visio 2003?

After years of no problems, I opened visio and my shapes window was nowhere
to be found. From the menu bar, selecting View> Shapes Window does not
bring it back. I've minimized everything, rebooted, turned off multiple
monitors, but still can't find the window.

Please check this registry value:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Document\FindShapesDisplay
If set to 1, the window should be displayed.
