how do I recover a password on a pst folder?

I need help please. Is there anyway to recover a password on a pst folder? I
have forgotten it somehow perrmanently.

What version of Microsoft Outlook was the personal folders file created
with? The reason that I ask is that a freeware utility named PST19UPG might
work. This utility upgrades the PST file to large table support and has a
side effect of stripping the existing password. (Applies to Outlook 97 -
2000 since the default creation of a PST is not to have large table support
enabled by default.)

If the PST file was created with a later version of Outlook or large table
support was enabled, then you have to go 3rd party and use a password
recovery tool. Just head straight to and perform a search for "personal
folder password recovery".

ps - i don't know of any vendors that include support for the new personal
folder data files that outlook 2003 can create.

password. I have OL 2003.

i have ol 2003 but the data file I need to get into is formatted in ol
97-02. i downloaded the recovery tool and tried extracting the file but the
pst i need is not listed. How can i find the pst folder? Everything else
shows up.

We use Atomic Password Cracker in our environment. Generates passwords for
PST files very quickly....click and release and the password is there! This
was a very handy tool for our migration to Exchange from Lotus Notes. We
needed to migrate all the email data into PST files from the Domino server
before we could have them readable with Outlook 2003.

i can't not get the PST19UPG to find my pst's password. it says it can't
find my data file or the filename is invalid.

what am i not doing?
