How do I recover temp file after Word lockup?

To configure word to save automatically look at TOOLS -
OPTIONS - SAVE you can change autosave options to save
more frequetnly (eg 10 mins) and can set for backup etc.
word temp files usually have .doc on the end and can be
opened.
