How do I reduce spam email from my website?

It is my opinion that due to my many email hyperlinlks on my website that I
get an above average amount of spam email. I would like to keep the
hyperlinkls on my site but add some sort of layer of protection that will
reduce this spam. Please advise? Thanks in advance!

Chuckb74,

Once the web crawlers have found your email addresses, the volume of spam
will increase even if you were to remove them. You should check your host
company instructions for a server side form setup where the site visitors
fill out a form and you will receive an email message. If you use a standard
FP form, the web crawlers will still find the e-mail address.

www.Jimcosoftware.com has a "spam spoiler" pluggin that may help reduce the
spam received - but not from those existing spammers, only new spammers.
Works well enough if you have javascript enabled.

The other way is to include a contact form that uses a server side script to
send the email rather than using the mailto tag.

Your host may supply such a script as part of your hosting - you could check
with them. If they use "CPanel" hosting control panel, this usually comes
(or may come) with a range of web utilities including email-scripts.
(Depends on your host and what they might provide).

My host uses CPanel and it has among other things, shopping carts,
discussion boards, form-to-email scripts etc all ready to install and run.
