How do I reduce the file size of a PowerPoint presentation?

Is there a way to reduce the file size of an image in a ppt? I have a
template powerpoint, containing 3 images, that is 9,604KB. However when you
save it as a pdf it reduces to 142 KB., so there must be a way to make it
smaller in PowerPoint. Does anyone know how to do this?

Right-click on the picture and choose Format Picture. In the picture
tab, click on Compress... and choose All Pictures in this document. That
should help (assuming you have Fast Saves turned off). For more

Hi Tracey,

I use "JPEG Optimizer" (free) on pictures before inserting them. After
inserting them I use the "Compress" feature mentioned by David.

Good Luck.

Hi Tracey,

Do you want to reduce the file size of an image? I think it's not a
good way for the quality of the image.

Alternatively, resucing the file size of your ppt will now feasible.
With some 3rd party presentation tool such as PPT2Flash (http://
www.sameshow.com/powerpoint-to-flash.html) you can easily reduce file
size upto 90% of its original size. What's more, it retains the
original appearance of ppt and good output quality.

You can have a try for free.

This has been said many times before...

You are posting from the Wondershare (SameShow) server and probably work for
them - come clean and tell the truth

BTW if three images are 10Mb then they do need to be downsized to match the
resolution of the projector / screen. You should not see a difference in
quality. My personal experience is you do if you convert to Flash with your
product but that's just my opinion.
