How do I reestablish the link to my lost thesaurus in Word 97?

I have used Word 97 and its thesaurus for many years without so much as a
hiccup. This past week, however, the thesaurus stopped working. The dialog
box pops up with the word I have highlighted, but there are no items to
select in the boxes below. When I type in a new word in the "Replace with
Synonym" area, no options appear.

How do I reestablish the use of the thesaurus?
