how do I reference page numbers in Word?

Hi. I would like to use Word to keep track of and refer
to the page numbers of specific appendices in a
document. I read through the Word 2002 Help, and it's
not very clear to me.

Can someone tell me exactly how to do this using the
following example? I understand how to insert the
brackets using ctl-F9, but don't get how to format the
actual commands.

Example:
Appendix A is on page 50. When I refer to Appendix A
elsewhere in the document text, I would like this to
appear: (Appendix A, page 50).

Thanks!

You'll need two cross-references, one for the paragraph number (assuming
you've used auto numbering) and one for the page number. Use Insert |
Reference | Cross-reference and select Headings or Numbered items as
appropriate. Insert one Xref to "paragraph number" and one to "page number."

If you haven't used any kind of autonumbering, you'll need to bookmark the
"Appendix A" text (select it and Insert | Bookmark) then insert
cross-references using "Bookmark" instead of "Heading" or "Numbered item."

Hi Suzanne, thanks for the tips, I was able to apply your
second example and it's actually quite easy once you know
how to do it! ~C
