How do I reinstall microsoft word after removing office xp?

I am trying to reinstall microsoft word to read existing saved documents
after downloading microsoft xp, and realizing that I liked office 2000
better. I removed xp from the settings, control panel, add/remove programs. I
tried to reinstall office 2000 using the same path, and now I can't proceed.

Restart the computer. Then, place the Office CD in the drive and run setup.

If it will not install, please let us know as many details about the attempt
as possible: Did the install start and not finish; if so, at what point did
it fail; Were there any error messages and if so, exactly what were they;
Did the system freeze and if so at what point of the install; et al?

I do not understand what you mean by "downloading XP". From what source did
you download it?
