how do i reinstall word

I've tried reinstalling Word2000 by reinserting disk and following
instructions. Word then shows up under Programs. After clicking on it, it
looks like Words is opening then I get message saying 'program has performed
illegal operation and will be shut down'. Help! What's going on?!

WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in
module WINWORD.EXE at 018f:302303f0.
