How do I remeove write-protection from docs on thumb drive?

I want to re-use some thumb drives (1g) by removing existing word docs. Then
I want to save new info on them. They say they are write-protected and I
need to remove the protection. I tried the PROTECT DOCUMENT in WORD--but
could not find an UN-protect button to click on per the advice in HELP menu.

You don't need Word to delete a document from a flash drive. Why do you
think you do?

Slide the write protect switch on the thumb drive to UNlocked.
