How do I remove a black sreen over 2003 version files?

HELP PLEASE
Problem 1
I use scansoft – Omnipage to scan documents for storage. These documents are
copied to the clipboard and then pasted into a word document. I have been
following this routine for years and have recorded most of my study aids for
students in this way.
With Word 2007 when I open one of these files there is a black cover over
the underlying image that has been saved. I am normally able to see part of
the top line under the ‘black curtain’ This is naturally causing me great
concern. How can I now open those files without the black cover?
Problem 2
No matter what I do I have been unable to change the default font for
equation from cambria maths to another font. I need to do this as many of the
overheads that I prepare come in different formats. This also applies to
examination papers that I set

Although aimed at an earlier Word version, I suspect.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303507 holds the key to the display
problem. I don't know enough about Office 2007 to advise on the other issue.

So far, that's the only font available for the new equation tool
in Office 2007. However, the old Equation Editor is still
available via Insert > Object > Microsoft Equation 3.0, and it
allows you to set any font you want. (Just make sure you keep
these styles set to Symbol font: LCGreek, UCGreek, and Symbol.)
There's no way to add an Equation Editor (EE) icon to the Ribbon
like you could to the Office 2003 toolbar. Sounds like you're
creating documents with several equations in them, so one thing
to do to make it easier is to open EE in a separate window, then
copy the equations and paste them into your Word document. To
open EE in a separate window, click on Start > Run (or use the
Windows+R shortcut key). Put this path into the Open window:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\EQUATION\EQNEDT32.EXE

Also, MathType works with Office 2007. We'll have a
fully-compatible version out shortly, but for now, here are
instructions for making MathType 5.2 work with Office 2007:
