How do I remove a watermark in a Word 2007 document?

In a Word 2007 document, the watermark only occurs on certain pages.
Selecting Remove does not remove it.

Double-click the header area to open it, click on the watermark to select
it, and press Delete. Repeat in other sections as needed.
