How do I remove an item from a catalog, without remerging?

I have created a directory of people with their pictures and after I did a
catalog merge, I discovered a few of the people do not belong in the
directly. It needs to be alphabetical, so when I delete a entry, how do I
get the one that follows to move up and fill the space. I really don't want
to have to start over.

In step 4 of the catalog merge wizard you can exclude a record. In step 5 of the
catalog merge, convert to a publication. You can manually remove entries.

The problem is, we have spent hours getting the formatting correcting,
nudging each of the text boxes to line up and resized all the pictures in the
document. If I have to start over and do another catalog merge in order to
remove the entries, I will lose all my work. there is no way to have all the
entries "move up" one once the merge is complete?

Thanks!

Do another merge and exclude the entries. Take a look in print preview and see if it
looks alright. Publisher shouldn't change the formatting. Save the merge you have now
so you won't lose the file. Did you try creating a publication and manually removing
the entries and moving the other entries up?
The only other solution would be to remove the entries from your data base.
