how do I remove microsoft word from default to open web pages

Whenever I download from web sites and need the document to open I am not
given the option to choose what source opens the document however microsoft
word automatically opens it, I guess at some point I had selected microsoft
word to be default to open web pages but now I dont know how to change it
back and let internet explorer selects the best document to use.
