How do I remove read only attribute from an access database?

I have created an access database in Access 2002 which I sent via email to a
friend. On my side the database is not read only, but when it was opened on
the other side, it could not be accessed with the error read only databse.
How can I change this file so that it can be accessed by someone else? Is
there another way of sending files so that this does not happen?

Does your firend have the file saved to a folder on which he has full
permissions?
