How do i remove the grey background from incoming messages

I am using no stationery and when i compose a new message, my background is
the standard white. However, when I receive any new incoming message, the
background is grey. Why does this happen? How can I remove this grey
background to make my incoming messages appear with a white background. I
have run out of options to change this and where to begin troubleshooting the
issue. I would appreciate it greatly if someone could help me out with this.

Great, you posted a real address - get ready for the spam onslaught!

As for the background of received mail, you have no control over that since its format is set by the sender, not the recipient.

You might want to take Milly's advice and get a new email address Sean,
there are "Robots" that trawl newsgroups to collect emails for use by
spammers. As a result of my experiments (intentional) I get half a million
emails a year :) Fortunately my spam filter is well over 99% efficient.

As to the gray background can you get one of the senders to send an email to
yourself and a friend with a similar system to yours just to make sure it's
not from their end?

I saw something similar with Outlook Express once and it was a result of the
program being broken. OE and Outlook are very different of course but given
that both use "Explorer" technology it may be something they have in common.
Sadly I cannot remember the solution to the problem, but if this is the same
grey as one of the window colours then maybe it's a similar issue. At this
time I can only suggest you check IE settings too in case there's a setting
in there having an influence, they seem different in IE7 so which do you
have? You can override web page displays to have your own fonts and colors
to some extent. I don't think this was the issue I mentioned above, I think
that was actually something broken, but who knows? I don't know Outlook well
enough to know if there's any way to set a default background in it, but
someone here probably will...
