How do I remove the Office v.X folder after upgrading to 2004 Pro?

Hi,

I recently upgraded to Office 2004 Professional from Office v.X
Standard.

I am very happy with the new version, however the Office 2004
intallation has not deleted the old version of Office (v.X).

Now I have two Microsoft Office folders in my Applications folder. How
do I remove Office v.X without losing anything? Office 2004
installation moved my Entourage database to the new version so I should
not worry for anything right?

Should I just move the Office v.X folder to the trash? Should I keep
anything from that folder?

Please help!

Happy New Year!

It should be safe to delete the Office X folder. Your Entourage data is
stored in another location entirely (~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/) in
order to ensure that it doesn't get accidentally deleted in a situation like
this. Only if you need to access one of the four Office X applications for
testing should it be necessary to keep it on your drive.

Do note that there will be some residual preference files remaining on the
drive after you delete the Office X folder. You should be able to locate
and delete those by running the Remove Office tool in
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Additional Tools/Remove Office/. Be
careful to only delete information from Office X when running the tool. It
might not find any Office X information to delete; if that's the case,
you're OK and can quit the program.

Percy,
I used the 30 day trial and am getting the full version. Am I to assume that
all my Office OSX data will be moved. So I don¹t have to redo the Address
Book or Calendar, etc??? With the trial version, I had nothing transferred
over.

Anything else I should know about upgrading??? Btw, are you happy with the
upgrade. I liked the Trial version. Not lots of new items, but sometimes if
you don¹t upgrade, you end up paying for it in the end <g>.

Thanks in advance.

Frank
