How do I replace a shape in Visio without losing the text?

I have drawn a Basic Flow Chart and want to change the shape in the chart
without having to re-type the text inside the shape. Is there a way to just
change the shape without having to re-type an reconnect the shapes in the
flow chart?

Would you care to try out our utility software? There is a shape
replacement menu.

Sounds interesting. Do you have a trial software? Or do I need to purchase
before seeing if it will do what I am looking to accomplish? I didn't see a
manual or description of the functionality on your website.

Thanks for any further information that you can provide.

Yes, it is try before you buy, perhaps that isn't clear, there, I've
changed it to say "Dowload it and try it out". The manual in PDF
format is in the downloadable zip file. All fully described.

Hi,

I downloaded it, and reviewed the manual and it looks like it will do what I
am after, but the software when installed in Visio asks for a registration
key and only shows "reports" under super utilities. I can't really "try it"
and see if it performs the function that I am looking for it to do.

Thanks!

er, you don't have a drawing open. You'll find that many of the Visio
menus are disabled if there is no drawing open.

I'm not sure what the problem is. If the software is correctly
installed (as per the instructions) and there is a document open then
the all menus should be available.
If the menus are greyed out then either
a. there is no document open
b. the startup path has not been set
Probably the exe file has been run without reading any of the
instructions - that will cause these exact symptoms.

And the registration key will only be asked for if you go to that part
of the menu.

so how do you do you actually do it???

but how do you actually do it, where is it under

menu SuperUtils -> Shape Substitute
(assuming here that the SuperUtils menu is visible, there are other
Visio add-ons that blithely overwrite other menus).

thanks, i'm slow, but i think i'm supposed to download a utility that you
sell???
i've done that, but in the instruction pdf is do not see how to install on
visio 2007
please advise - then i'd like to see it work - for example change shapes ,
with out the connection or data - how much will this utility cost?

why doesn't microsoft make this available with the software???? it seem
pretty basic, not unlike highlighting a word in MS Word and changing the
font??

thank you
randy

Installation in 2007 is exactly the same as in 2002/2003.
Try it and see! You may be able to do what you want without buying it!
