How do I retain hard carriage returns in sending poem plain text?

This baffles me. I sent a poem with [enter] at the end of each line, and
when Outlook sent it Plain Text it just wrapped everything. I've never seen
this before. It's a new installation of Outlook 2003 sp2. I want to be able
to have Outlook respect "line breaks" I create by hitting Enter at the end of
lines.

Prefix each line with three spaces. That's enough to tell Outlook not to take out CRLFs in a plain text message
