How do I rotate text

I am doing a floor plan in MS Word (Office 2000) and want to put numbers
on object, but I want to rotate the numbers to be read from the side.
I was using TextBox, but it will not allow me to rotate.

If you're using text boxes or tables, you should be able to rotate the text
in Word 97 or higher.

To rotate text in a text box, click on format, then
click on text direction and finally click on the orientation you want.

The linked article was offered in case you wanted to rotate to an angle
other than 90 degrees. If you will reread my original post, you'll see that
I said, "The Text Direction command works in text boxes, frames, and tables.
It allows you to rotate text 90 degrees left or right." Apparently that was
what you needed.
