HOW DO I RUN OFFICE XP IN VISTA windows?

My laptop crashed, but I had backed it up on an external hard drive. My new
laptop has Windows Vista, and will not let me transfer my Office program. It
says the Operating System is not presently configured to run this
application. I tried running the "Program Compatibility Wizard" but I got the
same error message. How do I configure it to run Office XP on Vista?

You need to install it. I do not think you can transfer Office from 1 computer to another just by transferring

You can't just copy the Office XP files from one hard drive to another.
You need to install Office XP on your new laptop using the original
Office XP CD, assuming of course that your Office XP End User License
Agreement allows you to transfer the software license to another
computer. If your copy of Office XP came preinstalled on your old
computer by the computer manufacturer, then your Office XP EULA probably
does not allow you to install the software on any other computer.
