How do I save as a .DAT file

I am updating a .dat file in wordpad. When I try to do a save it comes
up with a message that says all formatting will be lost. When I Click
NO to not continue saving I get the Save Dialog box but can not save it
is a .dat file...

Any ideas?

Any ideas?

What do you want the final result to be? Is the dat file to contain
just text or are you looking for a word file that happens to have a
dat suffix?
