How do I "Save-As" HTML in Ms Project 2007 pro?

S

Stephen

My personal workflow when leading projects using MS Project is to "Save-as"
HTML for use communicating with stakeholders.

This is very effective and very loved by all who receive this info.

This function was removed when I purchased MS Project 2007 pro as I upgraded
from MS Project 2000.

Please advise when a patch will be available for MS Project _Customers_ to
add back the export to HTML that existed as in Ms Project 2000.

The cynical people out there advise me that this was an evil move of
Microsoft to force organizations to move to server and sharepoint. I can't
believe that any organization would break part of a product to force an
upsell. Besides most of the Fortune 500 organizations I work in already have
server and sharepoint - but I still need "Save-As" HTML to compliment my work
as Project Manager.

I don't know why Microsoft did this; but I suspect you are right.

With just a little bit of work you can write some VBA code that punches
out HTML files ... I did that even when Project could directly output
because I wanted it different and better. It's not that hard to do and
once done, you can continue to tweak it to meet your needs and as long
as Project supports VBA it will work.

That being said, I have grown to be very appreciative of and impressed
with using Sharepoint as the core team tool. We use the "free" WSS
version ... not MOSS or Project EPM) along with Project. I've setup
synchronisation between Project and SharePoint and use SharePoint as the
"single version of the truth" about the project. Once this all
discovered--my HTML based system grew into dis-use very quickly.

Rob - Thanks for the outstanding reply... We are working towards the same
solution here, things just work too slow sometimes.

MOSS will let you show all kinds of reporting about an mpp file. There are
even free templates available.

Thanks. MOSS is too expensive for my customers.
