how do i save bmp file as jpg "save as type" option is disabled

in the Microsoft picture manager, when i try to sava a file .bmp as a .jpg,
the "save as type" field can be selected is disabled, how do i change it,

Open picture with MS Paint. Then save it and you can select the "save as
type" to .jpg - hope this helps.

Instead of "save as", try File->Export.

How and where do you get File->Export? I have MS Paint and MS Photo
Editor and both products don't have this!
