How do I save in My Documents without crashing Word?

In Word 2003 I have several different folders in My Documents. When I try to
save any document to any of the folders in My Documents I get the freeze (Not
Responding) error that crashes Word. If I save it direct to My Documents and
don't try to put it in one of the folders it will save it and then allow me
to cut and paste it into any of the folders. It only crashes if I try to
save a doc into a folder within My Documents. Up until three weeks ago i had
worked fine for more than a year. Any ideas what is happening or what I
might try to fix it? I am up to date with all updates. I even tried opening
up the folder to full sharing and it still does the same thing.
