Short answer, you can't. Speech profiles are environmental specific so even
if you install Windows on the same hardware, depending on what software you
have installed, it will be different from the previous installation.

Bob,

I tried this, but it cannot find any .spf fioles on my system (XP) even
though I have successfully used the speech recognition feature on this
machine.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Harry

Sorry, no idea. I found that in response to a request for "speech
backup". As it is stated as "unsupported" I'm guessing that it is not
going to be easy to sort out. Is the speech presently disabled? Did you
train it? Just guessing here, but both answers would need to be yes for
it to work.

Thanks for the reply. Speech nis enabled, it workes, and I have trained it.
I triedf again, then went into Search to see if any files were
modified/created in the last few minutes, and there just are no .spf files
anywhere on the machine. I have no idea where the prfile is being saved.
Hmmmm....

Did you also search hidden/system files when using Windows search?

Yes, I sure did. There just don't seem to be any .spf files on the machine
even tho I have a properly operating speech function. How can that be???????

All I can find is a SP_##################.dat file in

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Speech\Files\UserLexicons

folder with a time stamp of the last "training".

Hi Harry,

The Speech profile backup tool was designed for non-Office
created profiles. You can use it, as is, by searching your
computer for SP_*.dat files on your PC and use the Import/Export
feature of the backup utility with the Allfiles choice.

The Office speech files are hardware and voice specific so
they don't always transfer well. For questions about the
Speech profile backup tool you may want to also post in
the MS Speech newsgroup (link below)
