How do I save tons of Outlook messages as txt files at once?

I have thousands of Outlook messages (I just copy them from the in or outbox
into a file) that I want to convert to txt or other more easily searchable
files.

I have 2007 upstairs and 2003 downstairs. Downstairs doesn't read upstairs
Outlook files and this is a hassle.

Any ideas?

I don't want to do each one, one by one, if I don't have to.

So how do you think that Outlook search is not easy?

Hi Gordon,

I save these in another location that does not have access to the same
Outlook version. I attempt to access and the Outlook on my computer gives me
an error message. I would just put them in txt format so that I can search
my files anywhere - without regard to what version of Outlook is on the
machine I am using. Any ideas?

Outlook 2003 and 2007 use the same pst file format. Do you have Windows
Search installed on both machines?

Gordon,

I just checked. One of my Outlooks is 2002. I tried moving a 2007 message
to the 2002 machine and got the message I'm used to. I need 2003 or later to
read it. Any thoughts - other than me spending a lot of money to upgrade
Outlook of course :0)

You'll need to create an Outlook 2002-format PST in OL 2007 and copy your
messages to that PST if you want OL 2002 to be able to read it.
