How do I search in a drop down list from a lookup in Access?

New to Access. Set up lookup list for an item file but there are thousands
of item numbers listed. Is there a find function for use while in the lookup
list?

If you are trying to make the lookup datatype work in a table, stop now! A
scan through this newsgroup will reveal a strong consensus against using the
lookup datatype, and against working directly in a table.

Instead, use a combobox in a form. You can set one of the properties in
that combobox to automatically complete when you start typing the item/item
number.
