How do I see messages from different Outlook configurations

I use the same Outlook datafile with 2 Outlook configurations - one at work
has an Outlook Exchange server, the one at home is POP3. All messages go into
the same inbox and get copied to the same 'sent items' box, but I cannot see
the exchange messages when I am configured for POP3. odd. How do I get past
this?
