How do I select specific data from an imported document

I am trying to import a table of data from another programme into excel to
create a chart. The table that i am importing is not in table format and is
just a word document which looks like a table. Most of the data in the
document is words and symbols but I need to highlight the two collumns of
numbers only and somehow get them into individual cells in excel. I am having
real difficulty doing this as when I try to highlight the collumn and drag
down it highlights the whole document as per normal word behaviour. If anyone
has any ideas on solving my problem using any aspect of office they will be
hugely appreciated!!

Thanks everyone

Hi =?Utf-8?B?c21pdG5leQ==?=,

I'm not sure why you've posted this question in a group for drawing and graphics
problems. Nor is it clear exactly how this document is laid out.

But you might try:
- press ALT and hold it
- now position the mouse at the top-left corner of text you want to select
vertically
- press the left mouse button and drag down, and to the right
- Now use the copy command

Note that you have to have ALT already held before you press the mouse button.
If you do the actions "simultaneously" it will open a task pane.

Cindy thanks very much and im sorry for being so vague! That seems to work
well however the text that I copy with the Alt function then needs to be
pasted into individual cells in excel. The data is seperated by a double line
spacing in word but then gets clumped as one big "copy" when I copy it. Is
there anyway of then pasting the data into inidivual cells in excell?

Thankyou again

Steve

Before we go any further, I'd really like to know what is separating the
columns, and the lines. If you haven't already, please turn on the display of
non-printing characters and tell me what you see (dots would be spaces, arrows
would be tabs and ¶ (backwards "P") would be paragraph marks.
