How do I select words by dragging? - it's disabled.

Everything works on Word 2007 under Vista except being able to highlight with
the mouse (or even insert anything with the mouse) in a document. I can
highlight text with the keyboard. I can highlight text in other programs
with the mouse. When I go to "Options" in Word, I cannot even get beyond the
"popular" screen. On that screen the mouse can select options, but neither
the keyboard or the mouse can select any other screens like "Advanced" or
"Display". I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it with no luck. I
installed it on another computer and it works fine.

Try deleting the Word DataKey.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\version number\Word\Data

Terry, Under "DATA" the "Toolbar" binary entry was extremely long, so I
changed it to correspond to another Vista system that was working correctly.
Unfortunately that did not help. If I delete the "DATA" folder will it
reconstruct, or is there a paerticular key I need to delete? I think the
basic problem boils down to the mouse buttons not working. I can move the
cursor, but selection ov anything in the document is not possible with the
mouse. The buttons work when I select something in the toolbar, but not in
the document. Then, when I close Word I get an error that says Microsoft
Word has stopped working. That error presents the following for details:

Any ideas??
