How do I set a 3" margin on my page but keep auto page size so I .

I want a large margin but want to be able to take continuous notes which is
only allowed in auto. Auto page size does not give margin options.
If I use custom page size I am limited to a 22"page height. After that all
the ink has a dark backround whic is hard to read.

Suggestions?
