How do I set a cell so one click will enter an X?

I am making forms in Excel with check baxes. I need to be able to click once
on the box and have an "X" appear. Now I have to put the cursor on the box,
hit "X," then enter. Someone told me there is an option in Word which does
that. Do you know what it is called? Is there such an option in Excel?
