how do I set a distance from a point for a specific length

I'm trying to draw a room of my home. How do I set a specific length ie.
1'-93/4"?

Generally, Open the Size and Position Window.
For 1D shapes (eg a Line or Walll) you can set the length and angle there

Are you using the Home Plan template?
If so, use the Wall shape.

In the Walls, shell and Structure stencil, there is the controller dimension
shape. I recently discovered this little marvel. It accepts calculations.
In millimeters it works. I don't know about feet and inches. Just keep your
fingers off the Enter button.

There is also the stencil Drawing tool shapes. You could draw a circle
around the point and glue to the shape geometry.
