How do I set master category list in Outlook 2007

How do I set master category list in Outlook 2007?
I set them up in the categorise - all categories list, I assign colours etc.
I use this list to assign categories to tasks and emails. However, this
list is only available for this session of Outlook. As soon as I exit
Outlook and then return, the categories are assigned to each task etc.,
however they have the message -Not in master list associated with them and
the categories are not available to new tasks etc. I just get the default
categories - red, blue, etc.
No command switches are associated with the start up of Outlook.
Any ideas as to how I can keep my categories?

Weird behaviour. That list is stored in a hidden message in your default
calendar. Maybe you don't have the necessary folder permission or something
else deletes the item eventually. Are you in an Exchange environment?

Thank you for your suggestion. I don't think it is folder permissions as I
have full privileges . We (unfortunately) are not running exchange - we are
running "Outlook Connector for MDaemon 2.1" I can not see anything
immediately obvious that indicates that this would be causing the problem -
however as this is a slightly unusual setup you may be on to something.

Any thoughts on where I could look?

Thanks again.

I don't know MDaemon. Is your default store or mailbox a local PST file, or
is that somethign on the server? If the latter, I could imagine the server
doesn't store the categories.

You might try OutlookSpy from www.dimastr.com. With that you can easily view
hidden folder messages. After installation, open your default calendar,
click on IMAPIFolder, AssociatedContents, and search for the message
"IPM.Configuration.CategoryList". That message holds the Master Category
List for Outlook 2007.

But maybe easier, try first to contact any MDaemon guys and ask them.
