How do I set NUMPAGES to the section total in WORD 2002?

MS WORD SP-2
I am writing a book including front and back covers. Front cover is section
1. Back cover is section 3. The rest is section 2.

I only want to number section 2 in X of Y format. Going into the footer
displays the correct page but the Y is 2 pages too high displaying the
numpages in section 1 as well as section 2.

In addition, the page numbering only displays on the first page of section 2.

Please help.

Hi,

Change the name of the field from NUMPAGES to SECTIONPAGES.

As for the appearance of the page number only on the first page of Section
2, if you selected "Different first page" in page setup, this would be
expected if you didn't insert page numbers in the other footers for Section
2. In this case there should be two more footers in Section 2 if you selected
"Different odd and even page numbers. Otherwise, there should be one more. To
fix this, either change the page setup settings, or go to the next footer and
insert the page numbering that you want as required.
