How do I set Office 2007 to substitute fonts not found?

I have a document with a font called Subway in it. When I open this document
in Power Point 2003, which doesn't have Subway, it substitutes the font so
that it's readable. When I open the document in Power Point 2007 it displays
gibberish. How can I set Office 2007 to substitute with a readable font?

I'm going to take a punt at this being a printer driver problem (I know that
sounds weird but you're just going to have to trust me I'm afraid). See

If installing the test printer driver doesn't resolve the issue come back
and explain more what you mean by 'gibberish' - text overlayed, strange
characters displaying....

i do have a printer installed, an HP 4050. It displays something like this:

{{[]}|[] and a square shape

I seem to recall people having problems with HP printer drivers - could you
install the test printer driver just to humour me?

Ok. I tried it. Still no workey.

I work at a university. This professor uses only one class this semester.
But he may use others. I would hate to have to customize one pc for him and
find out every semester where he'll be. We upgraded 60% of the campus to
Office 2007 this summer. He refuses to upgrade. I really don't know if other
professors will see this same problem with their weird fonts this semester or
not.

Can you answer me why power point 2003 would open fine or seems to
substitute just fine? But power point 2007 is not substituting fine?
