how do I set outlook to stay online

My outlook used to stay online. Now it has changed to go offline after I send
an email. I must click the send receive tab, then the the microsoft exhange
server tab then inbox to send or receive. This used to be done without all
that work. How do I return to this method?

Check under File - Work Offline at the bottom and see if it's checked. If so,
uncheck it, or on the bottom right of your Outlook it may say "offline",
click the down arrow and uncheck work offline.
