How do I set the same custom animation for several slides at once

I would like to use the same scheme for the custom animation of, e.g., text
for several slides, rather than doing each one individually. I have tried
Selecting the slides first, and everything else that seemed likely, without
success.

Scrutator,
Are you adding animations to the bullet text?
If so, you can add animation onto the text placeholder in slide master,
which will allow the animation to be applied throughout the presentation.
To do so, click View > Master > Slide Master.
Select the text placeholder (the one that states Object Area for AutoLayouts).
Then open up custom animation and add the effect of your choice.
Close master view.

Is it on the bullet text? If so, try adding it onto the slide master so that
it will be applied throughout the slides.
To enter slide master, click View > Master > Slide Master.
Add the animation onto the text placeholder.
