How do I set up a field to update a price determined by date?

How can I set up a field to automatically update a pro-rated price determined
by date? In my business agreements we charge a yearly fee. That price changes
month to month because we pro-rate that fee dependent on when a client signs
up. Every month I have to change the field that contains this price.
Sometimes I forget to change it at the beginning of a new month. How can I
automate this process so I don't need to remember to do it myself?

Where is the document getting the updated price from ie how will the field
know what price to add?
