How do I set up a new e-mail address not attached to the old one?

I have an AOL e-mail account & want to switch to Outlook, however my AOL
address is still active and apparently siphons my mail into Outlook. I guess
I have the AOL account with all the benefits Outlook has to offer, however, I
prefer to leave AOL behind. I understood in starting new accounts, all of
your e-mail, addresses, etc are transferred. Unfortunately, this isn't
working. I can't get help anywhere. It's seems a simple question really, but
it has my brain in a knot right now. I just can't get this going. I would
appreciate anything anyone can do to help me through this. I don't know alot
about computers so, perhaps herein lies the problem. Thanks for your time
everybody and I appreciate whatever you can do!!

If AOL is your ISP, then that is where you get your email address and mail from. If you want a different ISP and email service, then change your ISP.

BTW - if you want to be (e-mail address removed), you better understand the simple workings of email. Right now, it ain't going to happen.
