How do I set up a persistent alert for received mail?

I am using Outlook and have set it up to display an alert when emails are
received. This alert disappears after a specified number of seconds which
makes is good unless I have walked away from my desk. Is there a way to make
a persistent alert? For instance, with Messenger, if you are chatting with
someone and the chat window is not the active window the application blinks
in the taskbar until it is clicked on.

I'm assuming you're using Outlook 2003. You can change the alert settings
by clicking Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Advanced E-mail Options. The
Desktop Alert's duration can be set to a maximum of 30 seconds in that
Options dialogue, but you can make it last much longer (68 years) with
registry settings. See
