How do I set up a plan for my allotment?

Please can someone help me to set up a graph or something similar to show
what I am planting in my allotment and the dates planted.

If it will be more or less rectangular, you could use a table with
merged/split cells and borders applied selectively. But really Publisher
would be a more suitable app for this if you have it.
