How do I set-up a presentation to run in the background?

I'm running a dual monitor display (extended desktop) and attempting to have
a presentation run constantly on the secondary display. The problem is, once
I move an application other than Powerpoint into the foreground of the
primary display, the presentation on the secondary display halts itself.

This completely defeats the purpose of the secondary display. The
presentation will run just fine, so long as it's in the foreground. I realize
this could be easily solved with a second video card, but that costs money;
money we don't have.

This is a time-sensitive matter. Please reply post-haste. Thank you.

Firstly, a second (or more likely a third) video card will not solve the
issue. PowerPoint will only run while it has the focus. This is
intentional, since presentations are very CPU intensive and usually the
primary function at the time.

However, just because it was designed to work this way does not mean that it
has to. You would benefit from looking at PowerShow, an add-in written by
one of the MVP's that allows for Multiple show / Lost focus shows / and a
bunch more. Good stuff.
