How do I set up inventory for equipment control?

I work for a medium barge company. We have several barges in our company and
they all travel overseas. I'm trying to produce a program for inventory to
keep track of our equipment, 20 foot containers. These containers have
"Prefixes" and "Numbers" already generated by the leasing equipment companies
(i.e.: CAXU-243178-8, or GATU-003765-4, etc.). The program needs to generate:
Prefix, Container number; cargo loaded; bag count; gross & net weights; Port
of discharge, and Country of destination; Barge & Voyage Number, and Port of
loading. Can you folks help me on this?? I know there are several programs
available pertaining to this field, but they are very expensive.

Sound like you need a simple app with a form asking you for the information
you have listed, and then some reporting options that tell you various
things, such as the location of barges, containers, etc?
