giving a total of 84 hrs. per week. How do I set the calender up for that.

Hello Rad,

Will you be creating and assigning resources to the tasks in the
project? If so, I'd suggest creating two base calendars: one for each
of the 12 hour shifts.

As you create your resources make sure to assign the appropriate base
calendar to each resource. As you assign tasks, the schedule of the
task will move to accommodate the resource's calendar.

I'd suggest setting the definition of a day in Tools > Options, calendar
to 12 hours and a week to 84 hours.

If you need additional details or guidance, please post back with
further information about what release of Project you are using. The
steps to modify/create base calendars has changed from the Project 2003
(and earlier) to the Project 2007 versions.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Your employees never get a day off?????????? Or are these work hours you
described the composite work hours of a group of employees rather than the
hours of one individual employee?

2x12hr/d, 7d/wk schedules are the norm for, so called, turnaround periods where a continuously running plant shuts down for several weeks once a year for maintenance and/or reconfiguration. Such intensive schedule is necessitated by high financial penalty of keeping the plant idle. Workers do get some rest because there are more than just 2 rotating crews.
