how do I setup a wireless POP3 account?

Outlook 2002, Win XP-SP2, laptop . Traveling using a PCIMA wireless adapter
with no LAN. Cannot get Outlook to connect to my POP3 email ISP account.
Keeps trying to dial a modem. In Advanced Properties I see no connection for
a wireless, only a LAN, Modem or VPN . What am I missing? I tried setting
up a new account but still get message it needs a phone connection. I can go
directly to my ISP site and see my email using the ISP's simple email
program, just can't download it to Outlook.
Any help appreciated, couldn't find any info on wireless in the help file or
at Product support
