How do I setup Windows Desktop Search to find Emails on 2003 Exchange server?

Hello,

I use Outlook 2003 Exchange Server. I can't get Windows Desktop
Search
to find emails. I've downloaded an add-in to index .msg files, but I
still don't find messages in my inbox. What do I need to do? Seems
like it shouldn't be this hard! Maybe its just me.

Thank you,
Craig S

Diane,

I am using cached mode. Is that a problem? Maybe I have something set
wrong? I'm not much of an expert on that.

Thank you,

Craig S.

No, I think it requires cached mode.

What addin did you install? do you have it enabled to search email (WDS
options menu) and has their been enough idle time for it to index them?

Diane,

Are there any special settings for cached mode? It should have had
enough time to index them. One thing that caught my attention is that
the option to choose what to index is set to "Custom folders and email
locations". There is a button to browse and select all of the folders
that will be indexed, but the location of the Exchange folder is
unavailable. The other 2 selections are greyed out for some reason
("Email and all hard disks" & "Email and My Documents").

I appreciate any input,

Thanks,
Craig S.
