How do I show timephased data for a custom field?

Project 2003 allows you to export timephased data to Excel, which is
convenient. However it doesn't allow you to readily export timephased data
from a custom field (e.g., a custom field for billable cost).
How do I display custom field data over various durations?

You don't. Custom fields are not timescaled data.
There is a way around this. One is to write some vba to calculate the value
of the customfield on the fly and write it out. If the custom field is based
on a timescaled value then you can change the status date and recalc the
schedule and then evaluate the custom field.
