How do I shut off Speech permanently?

P

phoozles

A few months ago I played around with the speech utility and worked on
customizing the software. However, after a few weeks, I disconnected my
microphone as my sound card was not really compatibile with it. I unchecked
the 'Speech' option in Office, however, that didn't work. Since then Speech
periodically turns back on on its own and starts adding random characters and
words to my documents and emails while I am typing them - there is no
microphone connected to the PC.

Please help!

Thanks!

Hi Phoozles,

In Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel you
can select the Microsoft Office choice and change the
feature set to have the 'Alternative input' features for
Speech set to 'Not Available' to remove that feature
from your installation.
